Program for Turkey side students

Short-term exchange program for Turkish students

The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) offer graduate (mainly Master’s) students of Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University and Bogazici University an opportunity to visit Japan to learn the concept of “Resilience Engineering” as well as Japanese language and culture.

Sample Schedule

Course 1 (UTokyo ) Course 2 (Tokyo Tech )
1st day Arrival at Tokyo
2nd day Lectures on the Japanese language and culture at UTokyo followed by a reception
3rd day to 6th day Lectures and exercises on resilience engineering  (systems safety, maintenance engineering, disaster management, and earthquake and tsunami engineering) Exercises on urban earthquake engineering and Internship program at engineering companies

(End of the course changes depending on your host professor)
7th & 8th days Cultural experience and excursions in Tokyo
9th day to 12th day Internship program at engineering companies
13th day Closing ceremony
14th day Departure from Tokyo

Examples of topics for the internship program:

  • Exercises on nuclear plant design at Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, Institute of Nuclear Safety System and Kansai Electric Power Company (Course 1)
  • Research work on structural engineering at Taisei Corporation (Technology Center) (Course 1)
  • Research work to estimate the damage of a disaster at Oyo Corporation (Course 2)
